Silent capture
A confirmation you can feel instead of one everybody hears.
A disguised screen is undone instantly by a shutter click. Eclipse captures without one, and can give you a short haptic tap instead so you still know the shot fired — the confirmation moves from something the room hears to something only you feel.
Haptic instead of sound
The haptic is optional and off nothing else depends on it. When it is on, one short tap confirms the capture; in a burst it is captured once at the start rather than buzzing per frame.

Why this matters more than it sounds
Every other part of the disguise is visual. The shutter sound is the one channel a mask cannot cover, and it is the most common way this kind of app gives itself away — a black screen means nothing if the phone clicks.
Where iOS overrides it
In some regions — Japan and South Korea among them — iOS enforces a camera shutter sound at the system level. No third-party app can disable it, and any app claiming otherwise on those storefronts is describing something iOS does not allow. Eclipse does not attempt to work around it.

What it will not do
- In regions where iOS enforces the shutter sound, no app can silence it — Eclipse included.
- Video recording has its own audible cues on some devices that are outside an app's control.
- Haptics are silent to you, but a phone resting on a hard table can still be heard buzzing.
Common questions
- Can Eclipse take photos silently on any iPhone?
- On most storefronts, yes. In Japan, South Korea and a few other regions iOS enforces a shutter sound at the system level that no third-party app can disable. That restriction applies to every camera app on those storefronts equally.
- Will the haptic give me away?
- It is silent in the hand. On a hard surface a buzz can be audible, so if the phone is sitting on a table, turn the haptic off and rely on the capture happening.
